Danney McCoy has announced his retirement, effective May 30, 2014. Danney founded Bell & McCoy 42 years ago. His vision and passion for our company and this industry will always be a part of us. After graduation he went on to work for the Cincinnati Opera as the Assistant Lighting Director before moving to New York where he was a lighting designer for a prominent manufacturer. Most recently, Taylor has worked in Dallas as a lighting designer.

William Ellis "Buddy" Binyon, 68, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014. Buddy was born on March 4, 1945, in Odessa to Nicholas and Heloise Binyon. He enjoyed the water and all things about it. He especially enjoyed boating, fishing, "bobbing," sunrises, sunsets, night riding, and most of all his family and friends. Buddy's career in the electrical industry spanned over 40 years. He joined Bell & McCoy in 1972 as a principal owner. Throughout his time in the industry, he was considered a leader, mentor, confidante, trainer, supporter and, most of all, a friend. He was a passionate man who had a true spirit for living life to the fullest. He cherished his family. Survivors: His wife and best friend of 48 years, Irene; son, Jason and his wife, Gina; daughters, Paige Lonibos and her husband, Neil, and Stacy Binyon; grandchildren, Tanner, Trace and Ty Binyon, Ashton, Braeden and Cason Lonibos; brothers, Nick and his wife Beverly, and Gary Binyon ; sister, Tricia Adcox and husband, Charles; as well as loving nieces and a nephew. Tammy Koch has joined Bell & McCoy Lighting and Controls of North Texas as an inside sales representative. Tammy will be focused on sales and customer service. She brings 9 years of industry experience to the Bell & McCoy team.
Kalynn Weiss joined Bell & McCoy Lighting and Controls in Dallas, taking the role of Senior Specification Sales. She had spent the previous 7 1/2 years working as the VP of Specification Sales for Litelab. Previously, Kalynn was a Regional Sales Manager for 5 years with ERCO Lighting. In 1981, Kalynn joined Tully Weiss Lighting Design where she and her husband designed high end residences and sound studios until they took a sabbatical and moved to Lake City, CO. Upon their return to Dallas in 1999, they formed Switch, designing the lighting for large commercial buildings, senior developments, performing art centers, as well as high end residential. In 2011 they formed 2 Studio Inc. to continue their design projects. With her extensive experience in the Design industry and graduating from Texas Tech University, Kalynn brings her passion for impeccable design and keen eye of architecture to the Bell and McCoy Lighting and Controls Team.
Tejal Thakur is joining us in the role of Director of Lighting Specification Sales for North Texas. Having been in the industry for over 15 years and most recently serving as a Regional Sales Manager for Lumenpulse Lighting, Tejal brings to Bell and McCoy a wealth of lighting sales knowledge from her experiences as a senior specification sales representative for Hossley Lighting Associates and a regional sales manager for Lightolier. Her first experiences in the lighting industry occurred immediately after she received her Architecture degree from Texas A & M University and began working for Opus Architects and Engineers as an architectural associate. From there she transitioned into a role as a lighting designer working for Bouyea and Associates and Mary Peyton Lighting Design. She has a deep understanding of the ever-changing Lighting Industry, underlying technological breakthroughs, product innovations and the competitive landscape of the market.
Charles Owen is a new member of the Bell & McCoy Lighting and Controls in North Texas. While his primary responsibilities will include calling on electrical distributors in the DFW area, Charles will also have some specifier and contractor accounts as well. He has spent the last 15 years in the automotive sales industry, with the previous 5 years serving as the sales manager at the Park Place Lexus dealership in Grapevine. Charles has a wealth of sales experience and has shown tremendous drive and motivation in learning the industry in general and lighting more specifically.
